8th Dato’ Hanif Hassan Moot Court Competition 2026

On 27 June 2026, our Associate, Ms Dharshiney Visuvaseven, had the privilege of serving as a judge at the 8th Dato’ Hanif Hassan Moot Court Competition 2026, marking her third time serving as a judge for the competition.

As an alumna of the competition and the first Director of the Moot Club, it was an honour for her to contribute to the development of the next generation of advocates by serving on the judging panel.

This year’s moot problem was particularly timely, requiring participants to grapple with issues of constitutional and contract law against the backdrop of an impending general election. The fictional appellate dispute challenged participants to navigate questions relating to anti-party hopping laws, contractual obligations, emergency powers, and democratic governance, requiring careful legal analysis and persuasive advocacy.

It was encouraging to witness the quality of advocacy and the thoughtful manner in which participants approached complex legal issues, advancing creative and well-researched arguments from both sides of the appeal.

We congratulate Moot Club National University of Malaysia (Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, UKM) and all participants on another successful edition of the competition. Our firm will continue contributing to the development of future advocates.
